We have been so busy that we haven't been very good at mailing out our Scripture Gems but I here is a beautiful one that just had to be shared today!

The Scripture Gem is, My Strong Habitation.

“Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Psalms 71:3

Do you want to have a place to which you can go to and always be safe. Are you looking for a home that you can call your own? Psalms 71:3 is the promise sent to you from a loving God!

How much of our time is spent making a place that we can call our own? We have homes and rooms. We have drawers full of just the things we may need. Closets hold our potential necessities. We surround ourselves with boxes of things we may need. Then we invest in doors and locks, fences and barriers to make sure these areas are safe. Why do we do this?

We do it because of a heart longing God gave to humans when he created them. In Genesis 1:27&28 God directed Adam and Eve to go forth, create a family and make a place where all was subdued and in control. What an amazing directive! God wants us to have families and places of residence where things are in order. The amazing thing is that though thousands of years have passed, we still retain that desire in our hearts. We still seek to have a place that we can call our own! A place that we feel we can sit down and feel completely accepted, completely safe. One of our recent guests expressed it this way, “All I ever wanted was my own nest!”.

This desire is natural and healthy. But few in this world now have a safe haven at home. All to often “home” is a place where sadness and grief reign. So where can this safe habitation be found today?

The answer is given with clarity and power in Psalms 71:3! “Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.” It is the knowledge of our saving God, that gives us a safe place to resort in this sin laden world. God promises to replace whatever broken home, whatever broken relationship, whatever experience you may have.

Prayer: Most Precious Creator God,
Today, I see in your Scripture that you promise to save me! Not only that, but that promise is as unmovable as a rock. It stands even when all my earthly homes and places of refuge fail. It is a place of order and belonging, a place of safety and love. Thank you for providing the very thing that my heart longs for. Amen
